Make a Real Difference: Volunteer Opportunities with Sight Loss Shropshire
Your time can change lives for people living with sight loss
Volunteers play a vital role in helping us to help people with sight loss stay connected, informed and confident in their daily lives. Whether it’s making sure someone receives information in a format they can access, or assisting young people feel included and supported at activities, the time and care volunteers give has a meaningful impact.
We currently have two rewarding volunteer opportunities available and would love to hear from people who want to make a positive difference in their local community.
Admin Volunteer
Clear, accessible communication is vital for people living with sight loss. While many receive our newsletter by email, not everyone can access or use digital technology. We want to introduce a large-print postal version and are looking for an Admin Volunteer to work with the Sight Loss Shropshire team to help make this possible.
What the role involves
- Supporting the preparation and distribution of a large-print postal newsletter
- Helping keep information up to date so no one misses out
- Occasional contact with people accessing our services, by phone or email
This role could be a great fit if you:
- Are organised and reliable
- Feel comfortable using basic IT
- Enjoy speaking with people
- Can offer a couple of hours each month
Children & Young People’s Activities Volunteer
We’re looking for one or two friendly, practical volunteers to support activities for children and young people with sight loss.
Volunteers play a key role in making sure activities run smoothly and that everyone can take part fully.
What the role involves
- Helping with setting up and clearing away at events
- Offering refreshments and general on-the-day support
- Encouraging and supporting young people to join in
- Chatting with families and helping them feel welcome
- Assisting with simple admin tasks or capturing highlights from the day
You’ll work closely with our Children & Young People Activities Coordinator, and no previous experience of assisting people with sight loss is required – just a positive attitude and willingness to help.
This role may suit you if you:
- Are practical and organised
- Enjoy working with people
- Like being part of a supportive, welcoming team
Get Involved
Whether you’re interested in behind-the-scenes support or being hands-on at activities, volunteering with Sight Loss Shropshire is a rewarding way to use your skills, meet new people and support individuals and families affected by sight loss.
If either of these volunteer roles sound interesting to you, or if you’d like to support us in another way, we’d love to hear from you.
