Donations change lives

Supporting Sight Loss Shropshire is a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of people with visual impairments. Fundraising for us can also help to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with sight loss and highlight the services available to support locally across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

Here are some fundraising ideas:

  • Host an Event
Organise an event, perhaps with a unique theme to draw attention. From coffee mornings, afternoon teas, trivia nights or costume parties to art exhibitions, you could charge an entry fee or encourage donations.

  • Host a Sensory Experience Event
Organise an event that immerses participants in sensory activities, such as a “Dine in the Dark” evening with blindfolds, offering insight into the daily experiences of those with sight loss. Charge an entry fee or accept donations during the event.

  • Participate in Physical Challenges
Marathons, cycling events, or even dance-a-thons are excellent ways to raise funds and awareness.

  • Walk or Run for Vision
Coordinate or join in a sponsored walk or run in your local community, emphasising the theme of sight awareness. You could include features like blindfolded walking challenges to deepen the connection to the cause.

  • Create and Sell Products
Get crafty! Homemade goods like candles, baked items, or artwork can be sold.

  • Social Media Challenges

Create a fun challenge that supporters can share on social platforms, encouraging donations and increasing visibility for the cause.

  • Workplace Fundraisers
Host casual fundraising events like bake sales or “dress-down” days, where employees contribute to participate.

Fundraising events for Sight Loss Shropshire have brought the community together in creative and heartfelt ways. The Mere Singers hosted a delightful carol concert in Shrewsbury, spreading festive cheer while raising funds that were shared between Sight Loss Shropshire and Shrewsbury Dispensary. At Hodnet Hall Gardens, our dedicated fundraiser event provided another opportunity to support the charity’s vital work, set against the backdrop of stunning gardens and local camaraderie. Meanwhile, staff at SpaMedica contributed their baking talents with a bake sale, and employees at Specsavers joined in with their own fundraising initiatives, demonstrating their commitment to supporting those with sight loss in the region.

Every contribution to Sight Loss Shropshire really does count, and even the smallest effort can make a big difference in someone’s life. We really couldn’t do it without you!
