East Shropshire Talking Newspaper celebrates Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
Congratulations to everyone at East Shropshire Talking Newspaper (ESTN) on being presented with their Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK, it was presented to the charity by Anna Turner, the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire.
A Talking Newspaper (or TN) provides a selection of news from the local press in an audible form. ESTN is staffed by an entirely voluntary group of people, and since its inception in 1990, has provided a free weekly News and Features Audio Service for visually impaired people.
ESTN is a registered charity and, based in Telford, it provides a free weekly USB memory stick to its registered subscribers, and its content is made more widely available via the Internet, Smart Phone Apps, and the most widely used Smart Speakers.
