Supporting visually impaired people across Shropshire

Established in 1922, Sight Loss Shropshire is a registered charity that supports and assists people of all ages with visual impairment.

As a member of the national network of local charities, we strive to enhance the quality of life for people with sight loss in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

Charity objectives

Our trustees, staff and volunteers aim to:

  • Help visually impaired people navigate the daily challenges of sight loss.
  • Reduce social isolation by offering access to social, physical, and creative activities that promote well-being.
  • Empower visually impaired people to make informed decisions about accessing available services and support.
  • Provide access to independence-enhancing equipment and services not available through statutory services or self-funding.
  • Raise awareness of sight loss issues and improve the local provision of visual impairment services.
  • Work in partnership with statutory, private, and third-sector organisations to support visually impaired people in our community.
  • Champion the needs of people with sight loss in Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin by promoting understanding of their unique challenges among national and regional organisations.

Our Board of Trustees

Our board includes members from across Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin. Many trustees are either blind or partially sighted, which ensures a genuine understanding of the challenges those living with sight loss face.

Sight Loss Shropshire Committee Meeting

Committee

Our committee serves as a sounding board for the charity’s services and provides excellent networking opportunities. We bring together representatives from sight loss organisations and local visually impaired stakeholders to help raise awareness and provide vital support and services.
